The ‘Milkmaid’ stool series explores traditional through-tenon joinery and hand-shaped leg profiles, carved using a spokeshave and shave horse. The project considers the relevance of time-honoured woodworking techniques within the contemporary market. Each stool was bespoke, customised in collaboration with its client. The process and traditional methods were exhibited at Interval Festival 2025 at Heide Museum of Modern Art. Timber for the series was sourced from an agroforestry operation and includes a selection of Victorian hardwoods, complemented by red gum splines.
