ABOUT ELIZA
Eliza Radford is a designer and maker based in Abbotsford, Melbourne (Naarm), and the owner of LIZEY MAKES. Working primarily in timber, her practice centres on creating meaningful objects designed to age gracefully, materially and emotionally. She believes we do not need more things; we need better ones.
For Eliza, designing and making are inseparable. Her process is deliberate and considered, taking time to understand an object’s use, form, and practical requirements in pursuit of balance between function and beauty.
Her practice is rooted in hands-on making. Using sustainable methods and honest materials, she constructs each piece to be durable, repairable, and built for everyday life. Instead of imitating cheap mass production, she offers an alternative: objects crafted with care, meant to stand the tests of time and age beautifully.
With a background in Industrial Design, Eliza is largely self-taught as a maker, refining her skills through mentorship and years of hands-on practice. Alongside her studio, she works within education and has taught woodworking at Secondary Schools and at The Shed Melbourne. To her, knowledge-sharing and connection remain central to her work.
Through her studio, LIZEY MAKES, she produces small-batch objects in her distinct design language, alongside commissioned and custom furniture for private clients and commercial spaces, collaborating with interior designers, architects, and hospitality venues.
Objects made well. Made honestly. Made to last.
