This commission provided an opportunity to explore traditional mortise and tenon joinery, with each joint meticulously cut by hand using chisels. A true labour of love, the piece became both an exploration of new techniques and a celebration of craftsmanship. Designed as a simple bench seat to act as a subtle threshold between two rooms, its form draws inspiration from Japanese woodworking and a philosophy that honours functionality. The piece is crafted from reclaimed Tasmanian oak.
